Colorado Springs police alert the public to a “Sexually Violent Predator” moving within the city

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is warning the public of a “Sexually Violent Predator” moving within the city.
CSPD said Mitchell Wayne Bishop is currently registered as homeless and is living by the Springs Rescue Mission at 5 West Las Vegas Street.
According to police, Bishop is a sex offender whose past behavior has caused him to be labeled as a “Sexually Violent Predator” by the Colorado court system.
Police said Bishop was convicted of sexual assault on a child and child abuse in the same case in 2007 in Denver County. He was also convicted of domestic violence/harassment in 1995.
He is described as a 6-foot-tall and 248-pound white man with gray hair and brown eyes.
CSPD said officers are making all reasonable efforts to ensure that Bishop registers as a sex offender and understands his responsibilities.
“The Colorado Springs Police Department takes his presence in our community very seriously and is intent on insuring he conducts himself in a lawful manner and that our citizens remain safe and aware,” the Colorado Springs Police Department said.
Bishop is one of 20 “Sexually Violent Predators” currently residing in Colorado Springs and registered with the police department.
