DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - On Tuesday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a former Douglas County Sheriff’s Office employee was arrested.

The sheriff’s office said 43-year-old Alexis Montoya was arrested on sexual misconduct charges after they learned she was involved in an inappropriate relationship with an inmate. She was assigned to the Detention Division as Crew Leader at the jail.

Montoya started with the sheriff’s office on Oct. 12, 2023.

The sheriff’s office said she was placed on administrative leave without pay on Oct. 22 and she resigned on Dec. 4.

Montoya turned herself into the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after a warrant was issued for her arrest. The sheriff’s office said she was arrested on two counts of felony sexual misconduct in a correctional institution.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said the case was turned over to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
