A crash is being investigated after a marked police car hit a person in downtown Colorado Springs.

On Friday night around 9:15, police were called to the intersection of Kiowa Street and Nevada Avenue.

Through an investigation, police discovered an officer was driving east on Kiowa Street and turned left onto Nevada Avenue. At that time, the officer hit the person with his car.

The pedestrian who was hit was taken to the hospital and treated for just minor injuries.

“The officer will return to duty, but the accident will be investigated by the major accident unit, and if the officer is found to be at fault for the accident, the officer could face repercussions as far as a ticket just like any other citizen would,” said Sgt. Joel Kern with Colorado Springs police.
