It's been 30 days since her mother has heard from her.

"I'm a mom too so I know the feeling she wants to do a lot to find her daughter but she can't really do anything because she's far," vigil organizer Rachel Jackson said.

Jepsy's mother lives in Hong Kong, but strangers here thousands of miles away are fighting for her.

"Just for a person to go missing no matter where they're from is important. But her having no family or friends here really we just came out to show support," Stephen Durham said.

The mother of Jepsy Amaga Kallungi has been in contact with 11 News on a regular basis. Dozens of people have reached out to 11 News pleading for help in finding her.

On Tuesday, Colorado Springs police publicly announced the homicide/assault unit started an investigation on April 4 when they went to check on her and couldn't find her.

Kallungi's mother says she last spoke with her daughter on March 20.

"I just want to know if she's still alive or dead," Margie Amaga told 11 News. "I don't know where she is, why she's gone."

Colorado Springs Police confirmed there is an open and active investigation. If anyone has information on Kallungi's whereabouts, they are asked to call police at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867.

11 News has tried to contact Jepsy's husband, but he has not returned any calls. Jepsy's mother says the her daughter met her husband on an internet dating site before moving to Colorado to marry him. Margie says Jepsy's husband told her Jepsy left with a friend to go to the Philippines or Chicago with no phone or ID.

Jepsy's mom is a widow with six children and is trying to get to the United States. She noted she would typically talk to Jepsy at least three times a week over Facebook messenger. This is the longest she has gone without talking to her daughter.
