Colorado Springs sex offender sentenced to 5 years for sexual exploitation of a child

A Colorado Springs sex offender was recently sentenced for sexual exploitation of a child.
Police are reporting Nathaniel Shane Simpson was sentenced to five years in the Colorado Department of Corrections followed by three years of mandatory parole on Jan. 15.
Simpson was a registered sex offender who at one time was living along N. Nolte Drive in Colorado Springs. He was arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Departments Internet Crimes Against Children Unit on Sept. 5, 2019 on suspicion of child exploitation for possessing child pornography and failure to register e-mail accounts in violation of his Registered Sex Offender requirements. At the time of his arrest, he was 39.
When he was arrested, Simpson was in the process of serving a four-year term of sex offender intensive supervision after pleading guilty in a similar case back in November of 2018.
in October of 2019, Simpson pleaded guilty to a second offense of sexual exploitation of a child.
