MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - Alabama authorities say a driver has been charged with manslaughter for his role in a deadly crash that occurred earlier this month.

Court records state that 32-year-old Clifton Land IV was in a car race down Airport Boulevard early morning May 14 when he slammed into a car driven by 54-year-old Stacey Neese.

Authorities said Land was found to be traveling at 119 mph when he caused the crash that resulted in Neese’s death.

Car parts could be seen spread out across the street following the collision. Both vehicles were totaled. Weeks later, parts of the scene remain visible.

Neese’s family described her as a beautiful soul. They said she was devoted to her faith, loved her family and was kind to all who knew her.

Land was taken into custody after turning himself in, authorities said. His bond was set at $100,000.

Court records show that if Land makes bond, he can’t drive a car. He’s scheduled to be back in court on June 18.
