Stretch of Dublin Boulevard reopens after three-month closure

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Dublin Boulevard reopened between Fieler Drive and Issaquah Drive on Wednesday after a three-month closure.
According to the City of Colorado Springs, the following tasks were completed during the closure:
- Completed water mitigation for an underground spring west of Peterson Road to address the recurring issue of water and ice on the road
- Improved Dublin Boulevard to two lanes in each direction with turn lanes from Fieler Drive to east of Mustang Rim Drive
- Reconstructed the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Peterson Road
- Built more than 90% of the project’s storm sewer system
- Finished nearly all water line relocation work for the entire project
- Accelerated road reconstruction between Mustang Rim Drive and Issaquah Drive
The closure was part of the Dublin Boulevard Improvement project, which the City says was designed to improve safety, mobility and connectivity for all users while supporting the community’s long-term transportation needs.
The project was originally scheduled for completion in Fall 2026, but the city now expects it to be finished by Spring. The accelerated timeline is primarily due to the road closure, which officials said shortened the construction schedule by more than four months.
With Dublin Boulevard open, Issaquah Drive north of Dublin Boulevard is closed for approximately three weeks for trench and roadwork.
Mustang Rim Drive is open at Dublin Boulevard, providing direct access to the Renaissance at Indigo Ranch community and serving as an alternate route to nearby businesses. The city says this work does not impact Issaquah Drive south of Dublin Boulevard
Phased construction will continue between Mustang Rim Drive and Marksheffel Road. The city says drivers should expect traffic shifts and lane closures on Dublin Boulevard this fall.
According to the city, finishing work is underway between Fieler Drive and Mustang Rim Drive, including completing new sidewalks. Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures and detours.
The final layer of asphalt and permanent lane striping will be placed on Dublin Boulevard after road work is complete east of Issaquah Drive.
