Crash shuts down lanes of I-25 near Fort Carson, one person dead

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - One person is dead in a crash that shut down lanes of I-25 near Fort Carson on Saturday.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the crash happened on I-25 near South Academy Boulevard. It shut down the southbound lanes between S. Academy and Mesa Ridge Parkway in Fountain after that crash was reported around 3:25 p.m., according to Colorado State Patrol.

A detour was put in place at the S. Academy exit.

State troopers said four vehicles were involved. One person was killed and one person was taken to the hospital, according to State Patrol.

Troopers reopened the highway later Saturday evening.
