COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Several varsity players on the Sand Creek boys basketball team were suspended after showing a sign of protest in their last game against Air Academy.

The players wore t-shirts that said “Trey Harris was fired unjustly. #PlayforTrey.”

Harris was the Scorpions assistant coach who was released from his position after he was connected to an ineligible player that participated in a game last month.

Sand Creek supports the decision to suspend the players. Head Coach Rob Hawkins said they knew what the consequences would be and said, "what's right and what's best are not always the same. I understand where (DIstrict 49) is coming from."

Sand Creek lost the game to Discovery Canyon on Friday night.
