Saylor’s family said in the statement:

“Even as we’re grateful for Saylor’s progress, our hearts are broken for the families of the three children and the teacher who were killed. We are holding them close, and we grieve with them.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed for Saylor, sent messages, and shown our family so much love during the hardest time of our lives. We can’t respond to everyone individually, but please know that every kind word, prayer, and act of support means more to us than we can say.

Many of you have asked how you can help. Along with everything else, our family is facing the costs of Saylor’s recovery and the time we need to spend with her. We’ve included a GoFundMe link below for anyone who would like to give. Any donation, share, or continued support is deeply appreciated.

Above all, please keep Saylor in your thoughts and prayers as she heals. We are beyond grateful that she is still here with us.

Thank you for standing with Saylor and our family."

Police said a 16-year-old former student went into Silver Rail Elementary School on Oct. 15 and shot into a special needs classroom. Teacher Megan Lambert, 25, was killed along with students Rhoam Summer, 5, and two other children, ages 8 and 11. The shooter was also killed.

Another teacher, Becky Drury, also survived the shooting and needed surgery on her left arm and right hand. She released a statement about what happened that day last week.

A memorial service was held for Lambert on Saturday at Caldera High School in Bend.

Silver Rail Elementary remains closed through at least this week. Bend-La Pine Schools announced that crews are making progress cleaning and repairing the school after the shooting.

The district also shared a list of resources for Silver Rail families, including childcare options with the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Bend FC Timbers, and grab-and-go free school meals.
