Woman accused of running over boyfriend’s legs with car during argument
MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA/Gray News) — A Texas woman is accused of running over her boyfriend’s legs with her car after they got into an argument.
The situation unfolded Tuesday in Midland, according to an affidavit.
Deputies were called about a pedestrian accident in which dispatchers said that a man had been run over by his girlfriend and was being driven to the hospital.
A responding deputy found a black Nissan in the H‑E‑B parking lot. The deputy found the victim in the back seat, and he had blood coming from his mouth and ear. He also told the deputy he could not feel his legs.
According to the affidavit, the man told deputies he and the driver were arguing when he got out of the car, and the driver backed up and ran him over.
The driver was identified as Emani Makamae Calhoun.
Calhoun later told deputies her boyfriend was behind the car when she backed up and ran over him.
The affidavit states she admitted that she hit him with the car, but she said she did not mean to.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the man’s workplace. The video reportedly showed the man walking behind the car as it reversed, hit him and ran over both of his legs, according to the affidavit.
Calhoun was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony.
Calhoun was booked into the Midland County Detention Center.
