Crews responding to fire in Park County; USFS Road 246 closed in the area

PARK COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Crews are working to contain a fire in Park County Friday afternoon.
As of 1:41 p.m., the Park County Sheriff’s Office said the ‘246′ fire is burning near County Road 92 and USFS Road 246 with no containment.
At this time, no structures are threatened. USFS Road 246 is closed in the area.
The Sheriff’s Office said several departments responded to help fight the fire, including the Lake George Fire Department, Hartsel and the U.S. Forest Service.
Deputies said the Forest Service plans to conduct a backburn operation and transition the incident into a controlled burn.
As of just before 4 p.m., the fire is estimated at 7.4 acres.
According to the sheriff’s office, a containment line has been made around the fire, and crews are working to secure the perimeter.
The public is asked to avoid the area as crews continue fire suppression efforts.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
