Sheriff’s Office identifies man killed in officer-involved shooting
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - UPDATE: (2:30 p.m.): The man killed in an officer-involved shooting on North Academy on Saturday was arrested on several charges in March, including arson.
Colorado Springs Police Department said Benjamin Greenfield refused to exit a home at 2600 E. Pikes Peak Avenue when police arrived to execute a search warrant. According to CSPD, Greenfield started several fires in the home before running away, causing “extensive damage.”
He was taken to a hospital for burns and smoke inhalation before being transported to the Criminal Justice Center.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on a deadly officer-involved shooting on Saturday, identifying the man killed as 40-year-old Benjamin Greenfield.
Law enforcement said the shooting, on North Academy near the Citadel Mall, happened after Greenfield fled from officers and fired at least one shot toward Metro Task Force members. Officers from Colorado Springs Police Department and a deputy from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were involved.
Greenfield was with a woman at the time of the incident. She has not been identified by law enforcement. She was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on an unrelated warrant.
Greenfield was remembered by community members at a vigil on Sunday.
