EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Law enforcement is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred in Security-Widefield Friday night, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting what they thought was a fight on Tranters Creek Way, possibly involving a gun. When deputies got on the scene, they reportedly found a gun in the driveway of the home.

They contacted a man and woman inside the house, and deputies say the man was uncooperative and became aggressive with law enforcement.

As deputies tried to detain him, they say the suspect attempted to fight them off and at one point grabbed a deputy’s taser and fired it.

At least two deputies fired their guns, hitting the suspect. They reportedly attempted lifesaving measures, but the suspect died at the scene.

Two deputies were taken to the hospital with injuries but are expected to make full recoveries. No civilians were injured.

Investigators are looking into whether the suspect’s gun was ever used, as well as the timing of when deputies used their weapons. The woman’s involvement is also under investigation, but deputies do not know if any charges have been filed against her.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating the incident.
