Twin Brother Of Aaron Lucas Arrested On Sexual Abuse Charges

At the time, it just seemed like a cliched excuse out of a soap opera.

"The evil twin argument," was how the district attorney's office referred to accused child predator Aaron Lucas' claims of innocence.

Lucas was arrested on October 23, 2012 in connection to a series of sex offenses allegedly committed over the last two years in Fountain, Colorado Springs and unincorporated El Paso County. He was also facing child sex assault charges in Alabama, and accused of rape in Texas. After Lucas' DNA was found on one of his victims, he tried to pin the blame on his identical twin brother, Brian.

Lucas ended up pleading guilty late last year to four counts of sexual assault on a child, three counts of enticement of a child, two counts of indecent exposure, and one count of second-degree kidnapping.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office told 11 News at the time that by pleading guilty, he waived all rights to the "my twin did it" claim.

But a new wrinkle in the increasingly bizarre saga emerged Sunday after that twin brother was arrested on similar charges in Huntsville, Ala. on Sunday.

Brian Lucas, 32, is charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Even odder--Brian's alleged crimes took place in the same county where Aaron's Alabama charges stemmed from.

Sister station WHNT tells us those charges were dropped as part of the plea deal he took in El Paso County last year.

Because of the plea deal, Aaron Lucas faces no less than 20 years in prison, and could possibly get life.
