Pueblo-area voters were deciding on three different issues to tax pot growers. All three have passed.
First: 1B, the tax in Pueblo County. Students in Pueblo County will now be able to get college scholarships from marijuana revenues. The measure proposed a 5 percent excise tax on recreational marijuana grows. Pueblo County Commissioner Sal Pace says this is the first time in history that marijuana revenues will fund college scholarships. The scholarships will be available for students starting in 2017. Some of that money will also go to improving the state fairgrounds and trails.
Second: 5A, the tax in Pueblo West. It's a 3 percent tax on people who grow marijuana in that city.
Third: 2B, the tax for the city of Pueblo. This tax calls for the city to put in place an 8 percent excise tax on marijuana grows within the city.
