Police say they found guns, ammunition and drugs after a disturbance suspect was arrested.

Police responded to a report that a shot had been fired on the 4200 block of Halstead Circle in Colorado Springs just before noon Saturday.

When they arrived at the scene, police say the suspect, convicted felon Galen Jenkins, 34, was in a vehicle outside the home, along with a toddler. An elderly woman was outside the vehicle comforting the child, according to police.

Jenkins reportedly ran inside the home as police surrounded the area, leaving the child and woman behind.

The woman and child were taken to safety. Police say not long afterward Jenkins and a woman came out of the house.

Police say during a search they found ammunition, high capacity magazines, pistols, high powered rifles and a shotgun along with a small amount of what appears to be heroin.

Jenkins is facing federal charges. Police turned the case over to the ATF and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
