Flying W Ranch Hosts First Concert Since Waldo Canyon Fire

Nearly every part of the famous Flying W Ranch in Colorado Springs was destroyed in the Waldo Canyon Fire. Friday it welcomed back guests for the time in more than a year.

600 people attended the one night sold out event. There was music by the famous Flying W Wranglers and a traditional chuckwagon supper.

"I'm always hoping that it will get back to where it was at one time," said Jerry Doebele, who attended the event.

The owners had planned to rebuild and reopen permanently this summer, but decided to put it off to help the surrounding community with its erosion and flood prevention efforts. All of the proceeds from Friday's event will be donated to those efforts.

No timetable has been set for a permanent reopening of the ranch.

"Lord willing we will reopen," said Leanne Wolfe, the Flying W Ranch's owner.
