Police are looking for the person who opened fire injuring two people outside a local Hooters restaurant Saturday.
The shooting may have started as a fight between two groups of people. It happened at approximately 7 p.m. outside the Hooters at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs. Police say it may have been a drive-by.
A man and a woman were shot. They are expected to survive, according to police.
Authorities are searching for a white four-door sedan.
The Citadel Mall went into shelter-in-place while emergency crews responded Saturday. Throughout the night, shoppers were allowed to evacuate. A tactical team went through the mall to clear it.
Police say while officers were still at the scene, they got a call about a potential third victim. That person was reportedly grazed by a bullet and did not need any medical treatment.
"I'm frightened," said Jace Chacon, who was getting a haircut inside the mall at the time of the shooting. "I was scared for my life. I mean, I just want to get a haircut. I never would've thought that this place will get shut down like that. I heard it was bad, but that's, I really, I'm speechless."
Another woman was shopping.
"The gates dropped, everybody was like shut the gates, shut the gates, so there was no joke yeah, but it kind of was crazy because security didn't let anybody know what was going on," said Kelsey Daniel.
Dru Sprague, who works at the mall said, "So I ran over down by this entrance right over here by Hooters and I saw a couple gunshot holes in the doors and I saw a kid leaning up against the Hooters wall and just sitting in there and I saw security and cops roll up and that's when I went back over here."
