UPDATE: Wildfire East Of Walsenburg 100 Percent Contained

A wildfire burning in Huerfano County about 20 miles east of Walsenburg is now completely percent contained as of 11:44 a.m. Friday.

The fire burned 1,000 acres before crews got it under control. The fire, which investigators say may have started by lightning Wednesday afternoon, burned brush in hilly country. The fire started on private land, and no structures were ever threatened by the flames.

Firefighters from several agencies, including Walsenburg, La Veta, Gardner and several from Pueblo County responded.
