A preliminary hearing took place Thursday in the case of a former Fort Carson soldier accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, just five days before he allegedly assaulted and killed 19-year-old Judi Lawrence.
Specialist Robert Marko, 21, was in the courtroom as several witnesses took the stand. An 11 News reporter in the courtroom says the testimony was gruesome, as a video recorded interview was played of the 14-year-old girl's account of the night Robert Marko allegedly raped and threatened to kill her. According to her account, Marko approached her after she escaped from the Cedar Springs Treatment facility. He forced her into his jeep and took her up to Old Stage Road, where he allegedly raped her in his car. That's the same road where Marko allegedly raped and killed Judi Lawrence just five days later on October 13, 2008.
Testimony is expected to continue next Tuesday morning before the judge will make a ruling on whether the sexual assault case with the 14-year-old girl will go to trial. Marko already faces first degree murder, sexual assault and kidnapping in Judi Lawrence's death.
