Power Outage Colorado

Thousands of residents living southwest of Denver are waking up without electricity this morning, as crews work to restore power as quickly as possible.

The outage affects customers of the Intermountain Rural Electric Association in Castle Rock, Larkspur, Monument, Palmer Lake, Plum Creek and Sedalia.

Operations manager Ed Jenks says the cause of the outage is NOT known for sure, but says a microburst or a small tornado may have damaged some of the cooperative's equipment.

Jenks says crews are trying to get the electricity back on again, but there's no word when that might happen.
