COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The buzz at the U.S. Senior Open at the Broadmoor was turned up a notch on Tuesday with the arrival of Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz.

Smoltz qualified for the Open when he finished third in a playoff at the sectional qualifer at Planterra Ridge Golf Course on May 31.

Smoltz told the media on Tuesday that this was the greatest accomplishment of his career. Better than winning a Cy Young Award or a World Series because those were team accomplishments. But if Smoltz wants success at the Broadmoor this weekend, he likely will need to lean on his only teammate - his caddie.

Colin Prater, All-American golfer at UCCS will be Smoltz' caddie for the tournament. Prater has played the East course around 1,000 times in his life and has a personal best score of 64.
