PUEBLO, Colo. The NCAA released its first regional rankings Wednesday and Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball currently stands fourth in the South Central Region.
An early predictor of the Pack's seed in the NCAA Tournament, the regional rankings indicate where the Pack would be seeded if the season ended today. The Pack owns a 19-6 with a 17-2 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games. CSU-Pueblo was the highest ranked RMAC team in Wednesday's Regional Rankings.
According to these rankings, the Pack's predicted first round opponent would be University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The Lions stand 15-8 on the season with an 8-3 record in Heartland Conference games.
The Pack trails Lubbock Christian University, Angelo State University, and West Texas A&M University in the South Central Region Rankings. The Pack lost head-to-head matchups to both the Lady Chaps (52-57) and Lady Buffs (49-65) early in the season, without Lauren Heyn (Jr., Penryn, Calif.) in the lineup.
CSU-Pueblo is receiving votes in both the D-II Sports Information Directors of America and the Women's Basketball Coaches of America polls. The Pack has won eight consecutive games.
The ThunderWolves have already clinched a share of their second consecutive RMAC Regular Season Championship. If the Pack can defeat Colorado Christian University Saturday, they will earn their third outright RMAC regular Season Championship.
