Switchbacks FC sign Midfielder Yaw Danso

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced today the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Danso.

Originally from Duayaw Nkwanta, Ghana, Danso came to the United States in 2005 to attend the Principia Upper School before signing with Principia College in Illinois. Danso was a member of the varsity team all four years and was named to the NSCAA All-American Team as a senior. Danso became the first [Principia College] Panther since 1988 to be name to the All-American Team. Danso finished his college career second all time in assists (27) and fourth in scoring (28) while making 70 appearances at Principia College.

Prior to joining the Switchbacks, Danso spent time with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the North American Soccer League (NASL). Danso played in 11 matches for the Islanders totalling 395 minutes and tallied one assist. He also made two appearances in the CONCACAF Champions League for the Islanders during the 2012-2013 campaign.
Before officially signing with the Switchbacks, Danso has been on trial with the Switchbacks FC and made an appearance in the International Friendly this summer against 1. FSV Mainz 05 of the German Bundesliga.
