Rockies reinstate Catcher Chris Iannetta

DENVER The Colorado Rockies announced Friday that they have reinstated catcher Chris Iannetta from the 10-day IL (right lat strain) and have designated catcher Drew Butera for assignment.

Iannetta, 36, was placed on the injured list April 15 … has batted .207 (6-for-29) with two runs, two doubles, one home run, two RBI, three walks and 14 strikeouts in 10 games with the Rockies this season … the Providence, R.I., native, who was originally drafted by the Rockies in 2004 and debuted for them on Aug. 27, 2006, is a career .230 hitter (794-for-3448) with 431 runs, 173 doubles, 11 triples, 136 home runs, 483 RBI, 561 walks, 984 strikeouts and 11 stolen bases over parts of 14 seasons with Colorado (2006-11, 2018-19), Los Angeles-AL (2012-15), Seattle (2016) and Arizona (2017).

Butera, 35, had his contract selected from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 15 … was signed to a Minor League contract on March 25 … batted .176 (3-for-17) with four runs scored, two doubles, one walk and four strikeouts in seven games … in his career across nine seasons with Minnesota (2010-13), Los Angeles-NL (2013-14), Los Angeles-AL (2015), Kansas City (2015-18) and Colorado (2018-19), the Evansville, Ind., native has batted .201 (249-for-1240) with 116 runs, 55 doubles, five triples, 19 home runs, 111 RBI, 83 walks and 285 strikeouts.
