Rockies Acquire LHP James Pazos from Phillies

ATLANTA – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher James Pazos from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Minor League infielder Hunter Stovall.

• Pazos, 27, has gone 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA (7.1 IP, 5 ER), seven walks and four strikeouts in seven games with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley this season … over his Minor League career, is 10-10 with a 2.39 ERA (226.0 IP, 60 ER) 96 walks and 249 strikeouts in 161 games, one start … made his Major League debut on September 5, 2015 vs. Tampa Bay as a member of the New York Yankees, pitching 0.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts … across parts of four Major League seasons with New York-AL (2015-16) and Seattle (2017-18), has gone 9-6 with a 3.54 ERA (112.0 IP, 44 ER) 43 walks and 116 strikeouts in 137 career games … was originally selected by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of San Diego … Pazos will be added to the Rockies 40-man roster and assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

• Stovall, 22, has batted .281 (16-for-57) with seven doubles, one triple, two RBI and 12 walks across 18 games with the Rockies’ Low-A affiliate Asheville Tourists … spent the 2018 season with Rookie Level Grand Junction, batting .296 (59-for-199) with 16 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 49 games … was originally selected by Colorado in the 21st round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Mississippi State.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
