DENVER -- The University of Colorado Board of Regents today approved the contract for Mel Tucker to be the next head football coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.

The board’s vote was 6-2, with one abstention.

Tucker’s contract is a five-year agreement. It provides for an annual base salary of $500,000 and supplemental salary of $1.9 million. The contract provides Coach Tucker an opportunity to earn incentives for the student-athletes’ academic and on-field performance.

He is officially the school’s 26th full-time head football coach in history of the program, which dates back to 1890.
