ST. GEORGE, UTAH (March 29, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo Baseball wound up on the wrong end of a 9-1 score in the series opener at No. 25 Dixie State University Friday at Bruce Hurst Field.

Daniel Abiles (Jr., Chandler, Ariz.) had two hits in four trips. Abiles was the only ThunderWolf to reach base twice. The catcher also had the Pack's only extra base hit with a double in the fourth inning.

The Pack's lone run came in the fourth. Dakota Popham (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) led off the inning with a single and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt.

Rion Santamaria (Jr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) drove in Popham with a base knock of his own to put the Pack up 1-0. The Pack's offensive surge ended when Santamaria was gunned down at home on Abiles' double.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Trailblazers erupted with five runs. Dixie State scored one more in the sixth and three in the seventh. That would be all they need as the Trailblazers took game one 9-1.

Beau Brieske (Jr., Chandler, Ariz.) took the loss, falling to 3-4. Brieske struck out four, but was tagged for six runs. Jayden Murray claimed the win for Dixie State.

The Pack and Trailblazers will compete in a doubleheader Saturday. First pitch in game one is slated for 2 p.m.
