Orediggers offense overwhelms Pack Baseball

PUEBLO, Colo. Colorado State University - Pueblo Baseball could not contain Colorado School of Mines' offense Sunday as the Orediggers took the series finale 27-11 at Rawlings Field.

Aidan Welch (So., Seattle, Wash.) belted a grand slam home run in the seventh inning. The grand slam was Welch's first career home run. He also drew a walk.

Mason Hayes (Sr., Jordan, Utah) also clubbed his first home run with the Pack. Hayes hammered a two-run shot in the eighth. This was also Hayes' first hit with the Pack.

Easton Adler (Jr., Mead, Colo.) whacked two doubles. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Connor Hughes (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) also finished 2-for-3 with a walk.

Chase Ratliff (Fr., Austin, Texas) clubbed two triples in his two plate appearances. Ratliff scored three runs and drove in his first career run.

The Orediggers took control of the game early. They scored seven runs in the first and put up eight more in the second.

Mines led19-0 before the Pack got its first run in the fifth when Adler scored on a wild pitch. The Pack scored four in the seventh thanks to Welch's grand slam.

Five more runs came across in the eighth for the Pack. However, they could not stop the Orediggers who scored in eight of the nine innings.

Thanks to their series sweep of the Pack, the Orediggers stand 26-9 with a 17-7 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Pack now stands 17-20 (12-12 RMAC).

The ThunderWolves will look to get back on track next weekend when they visit Adams State University. This four-game series between the Pack and Grizzlies starts Thursday at 3 p.m.
