COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. After a dominant weekend of play for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has selected senior Aleesa Muir as RMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
In two great defensive performance over the weekend, Muir helped lead a UCCS backline that allowed one goal in two UCCS wins, including a shutout victory over No. 10 West Texas A&M University. Muir recorded an almost full 180 minutes (170) and disrupted a Lubbock Christian University offense that only recorded four shots on Thursday night. The senior defender came back on Saturday to help hold the number ten team in the nation to just nine shots, while the Lady Buffs were unable to notch a goal.
This marks Muir's second defensive player of the week award in her career, and the first award for the Mountain Lions this season. After hosting their first two games of the season, UCCS will travel to the east coast to face California State Polytechnic University, Pomona on Friday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m. (MT), and California State University, San Bernardino on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m. (MT).
