(KKTV/CBS Sports) - A former Denver Broncos head coach was supposed to be the leader of the Indianapolis Colts, but he's reportedly shot down that offer.

The Colts announced current New England Patriots' offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, as their head coach Tuesday morning. They even scheduled a press conference for Wednesday to introduce him.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Confora tweeted out the following Tuesday night:

McDaniels went 11-17 as Denver's head coach in 2009 and 2010. He recently helped lead the New England Patriots to a loss in the Super Bowl.
