COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado College’s McKenzee Gertz was named Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after averaging a double-double in a pair of games last week in the Pacific Northwest.
Gertz averaged 12.5 points and 11 rebounds per game and earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the 2018 Kim Evanger Raney Classic in Walla Walla, Wash.
On Friday, she scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 99-60 loss to host Whitman College.
In Saturday’s 60-52 loss to Whitworth University, Gertz posted her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-best 17 rebounds.
With a pair of three-pointers against the Pirates, she pulled even with Korbyn Ukasick (2013-17) for seventh place on CC's career list with 87.
Gertz currently ranks third in the SCAC averaging 16.0 points per game and fourth at 8.1 rebounds.
The junior winger leads the conference with 26 three-point baskets and an average of 2.9 per game.
Gertz also is fourth with her .466 field-goal percentage and her .377 percentage from behind the arc.
The SCAC weekly award is Gertz’s first of the season and the second of her career.
Colorado College returns to conference play this weekend with games at Texas Lutheran University and Southwestern University.
