Former Air Force Falcon Ben Garland back home in Colorado with 49ers

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Denver Broncos played host Friday at the UCHealth Training Center. The San Francisco 49ers are in town for a pair of joint practices ahead of Monday's preseason match-up.

Friday's practice was a homecoming for Colorado native and former Air Force Falcon Ben Garland.

"I absolutely love Colorado and just coming back. It's a little odd being back in Denver in a different uniform but I'm proud to wear that 49ers logo." said Garland.

This is the first training camp with the 49ers for the guard but his NFL career started in Denver. He is happy to be back where it all began.

"It is weird because you know the equipment staff and then you know the other equipment staff and you go to ask for a towel and you say, whoops, no wrong guy. It's a little different but I love being back, this has always been home for me and the Broncos treated me so well in my time here so I love being back."

Garland will have a full cheering section in the house Monday night at Broncos Stadium at Mile High and he wouldn't have it any other way.

"I attribute a lot of my career to Denver giving me that first opportunity, training me, allowing me to switch from defense offense. I really appreciate the coaches for giving me that opportunity."

The Broncos and the 49ers will practice one more time together Saturday morning.
