The Colorado Springs Sky Sox team has announced they will now be the Rocky Mountain Vibes.
"In 2019 we are honored and thrilled to be entering a new league with a new team and we felt it was important to develop a brand that represents you, the community. Our goal was to create an identity that reflects the heritage in Colorado Springs and the type of organization we were building," said President and GM Chris Phillips. "Your new team and look represents Colorado Springs, the state of Colorado, and the entire Rocky Mountain Range."
More than 2,000 entries were submitted earlier this year to change the team's name. The five top finalists were the Colorado Springs Happy Campers, The Lamb Chops, The Punchy Pikas, The Throttle Jockeys, and The Rocky Mountain Oysters.
You may be wondering why none of those names made the final cut. Team leaders said in the unveiling that they took all of the suggestions under consideration and that's what led to the new name. They wanted to represent the area's love for the outdoors, rafting, biking, hiking, and hanging out with family and friends.
The new mascot, Toasty, is a fun loving s'more with a great attitude who spreads good vibes all over the city.
"Many fans have a special connection to the Sky Sox name, and we understand the importance of tradition. The Sky Sox is and always will be part of our city's history," said Phillips.
