COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Nick Lave has been a pillar of the Colorado Springs sports community but after 40 years, he is hanging up his whistle.
The career referee has worked countless high school basketball games and also worked the sidelines of college football Saturdays. His final football game was this years Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
When asked what he will miss most in retirement, he said it was the camaraderie out on the court.
"When were on the floor, there are 3 teams out there. Both teams have a chemistry and a bond and they have trust in what they are going to do, it's the same way with us sports officials." said Lave.
