COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior midfielder Lucia Costanza notched the first game-winning goal of her career 2:18 into overtime to give the Colorado College women’s soccer team a 1-0 victory over Utah State University on Friday afternoon at Stewart Field.

Costanza pounced on the carom of a shot by junior midfielder Johanna Hamblett and blasted a shot off the underside of the crossbar and into the net.

The Tigers improved to 8-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Mountain West. CC, which is tied for third in the league table, is now 5-1-0 at home and 2-0-1 in overtime.

It marked the fourth time this season Costanza has factored in the deciding goal of a game, with the first three setting up game winners.

The CC defense turned in another dominating effort, allowing just one shot on goal while recording its sixth shutout of the season.

Jade Odom finished with one save while recording her sixth clean sheet this year. The sophomore goalkeeper lowered her goals-against average to 0.82 and improved her saves percentage to .810.

Colorado College launched the only three shots in overtime and finished with a 20-10 advantage in total shots.

Each team earned six corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Grace McGuire stopped three shots for the Aggies, the most important of which was a diving save at the left post on Clara Richter’s penalty kick during the first half.

Utah State slipped to 2-11-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the conference.

The Tigers play host to Boise State University on Sunday at noon MT.
