COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Colorado College released its 2018-19 hockey schedule today, highlighted by 12 regular-season games against the last three NCAA national champions.
“Once again, we are excited to play the top teams in the country,” head coach Mike Haviland said. “To face the last three NCAA champions, Minnesota Duluth, Denver and North Dakota, four times each makes for a tough schedule, but we look forward to the challenge.”
The regular season opens with six games against non-conference opponents, beginning on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Alaska Anchorage. Following the second game of that weekend series on Sunday, Oct. 7, CC returns to the Broadmoor World Arena for homecoming weekend against Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 12 and Air Force on Oct. 13. The Tigers then host a weekend series against the University of New Hampshire before opening National Collegiate Hockey Conference play at home against defending regular-season champion St. Cloud State, Nov. 2-3.
CC’s first conference road series is at defending national champion Minnesota Duluth, Nov. 9-10, followed by a home series against Miami, Nov. 16-17. After a weekend off for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Tigers play at Omaha (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), host Vermont (Dec. 7-8), and travel to Arizona State (Dec. 14-15).
The 2018 calendar closes with a single game at Merrimack on Monday, Dec. 31, and 2019 opens at Maine on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
The Tigers will play eight league series in the second half of the season, beginning with 2016 national champion North Dakota in Grand Forks, Jan. 11-12. The annual Gold Pan series against 2017 national champion Denver begins at home on Jan. 18, followed by a game in Denver the following night.
CC also will host Minnesota Duluth (Feb. 1-2) and Western Michigan (Feb. 22-23) before closing the regular-season with a home series against North Dakota (March 1-2) and a home-and-home with Denver, including the season finale at home on Saturday, March 9.
Due to the unbalanced league schedule, CC will play one series against Omaha and Western Michigan in ’18-19.
Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.
Once again, every game during the 2018-19 season will be broadcast live on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM, 1240 AM and 92.5 FM, as well as on the internet at www.cctigers.com.
