BOULDER The University of Colorado will wrap up its nonconference men’s basketball schedule by hosting 2019 NCAA Tournament participant Iona on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 12 p.m., at the CU Events Center.
This will be the first meeting between Colorado and Iona and will air live on the Pac-12 Network.
Colorado was originally scheduled to have two home games as part of the MGM Main Event, one of which is against UC Irvine on Monday, Nov. 18. When scheduling a second game fell through, the CU Athletic Department was able to submit a waiver to the NCAA for a game outside the midseason tournament event (MET), which was finalized on Monday.
Iona was 17-16 in 2018-19, winning both the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season and postseason tournament titles. The Gaels, out of New Rochelle, N.Y., advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season, falling to North Carolina in the first round a year ago.
The addition of Iona gives Colorado 13 opponents during the nonconference schedule, nine of which played in 2019 postseason events.
