COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. Chris Wilkie, who collected five points in Colorado College’s split against Minnesota last weekend, was named the Bauer Co-Forward of the Week by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Wilkie shared the award with Gordie Green of Miami University.
Wilkie had a monster opening weekend of the regular season, racking up three goals and two assists against the Gophers. In the regular-season opener on Friday, the Florida Panthers draft pick had a hand in all three goals as CC rallied to a 3-2 victory.
He scored two goals in the third period, tying the game each time, with the first coming on the power play, and he had the primary assist on the game-winning goal in the closing minutes of regulation. It was his first multi-goal game as a Tiger. Wilkie was +2 with five shots on goal in Friday’s win and earned the First Star of the Game.
The next night in the series finale, Wilkie added two more points, scoring another goal to put CC up 2-0, while assisting on the Tigers’ final goal in a 4-3 defeat. He was the Third Star of the Game on Saturday.
The Omaha, Neb., native finished the series with eight shots on goal, hitting three posts additionally, and a +3 plus/minus.
The Tigers are idle this weekend before hosting Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Broadmoor World Arena.
