CSU-Pueblo's Sizer inks contract with Broncos after successful tryout

DENVER Following a successful tryout at the Denver Broncos Rookie Minicamp last weekend, former Colorado State University-Pueblo football standout Deyon Sizer (Aurora, Colo.) has signed with the National Football League organization. Sizer is listed as a defensive lineman after playing nose guard with the ThunderWolves.

Sizer (2014-18) is on the team's 90-man roster and joins the team immediately, as the Broncos begin organized team activities (OTAs) today. The former all-region player will wear number 78.

The Pack now have five former players on a current NFL roster. Defensive back Darius Williams (Gilbert, Ariz.) signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints to become the seventh former member of the Pack to ink a UDFA deal after the draft since 2008. He doesn't have an assigned number on the Saints website at this time.

Sizer and Williams (2015-18) join Mike Pennel (2013), Ryan Jensen (2009-12) and Morgan Fox (2012-15) in the league. Jensen finished his first season (sixth season in the NFL) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after signing the largest contact in NFL history for a center. Fox was in his third year with the NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams, but missed the entire season due to injury. Pennel signed with his third NFL team since leaving CSU-Pueblo in 2013 and entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014 when he inked a deal with the New England Patriots in March.

Also in March, Darius Allen (2011-14) signed back with his old Canadian Football League (CFL) team, the BC Lions, and Paul Browning (2011-14) signed on with his third Arena Football League (AFL) squad, the new franchise team in Atlantic City, the Blackjacks. He is currently on the team's injured reserve list.

Since the reboot in 2008, Sizer becomes the 13th former player to get drafted or sign a contract with the NFL following the draft (UDFA) or a successful rookie minicamp. The ThunderWolves had six players attend rookie minicamps during the last two weekends and since the restart, 25 former players have earned at least a rookie minicamp invitation from an NFL organization.
