COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Colorado State University-Pueblo softball senior Michaela Burpee (Union City, Calif.) was named a Preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection and the ThunderWolves were picked to finish eighth according to the 2019 RMAC Coaches' Poll released Wednesday.
Burpee led the Pack in doubles, home runs and runs batted in last season and is set for her final season.
RMAC Newcomer Dixie State was picked to finish first, receiving 138 total points and seven first-place votes. Colorado Mesa was a close second, getting 135 points and six first-place tallies.
Colorado Christian, Regis, and MSU Denver round out the top five in the poll. Ahead of the Pack sits Colorado Mines and UCCS.
Mines Clara Larson was named Preseason Player of the Year and Colorado Mesa's Kimbri Herring earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
CSU-Pueblo begins the 2019 season Feb. 7-9 in St. George, Utah at the Courtyard Classic. The ThunderWolves face Northwest Nazarene, University of Hawai'i Hilo, Hawai'i Pacific, Cal State East Bay, and Western Washington over the three days.
After a thirteen-game road trip, the Pack starts the home schedule Mar. 9-10 against Dixie State.
CSU-Pueblo begins conference play on the road Feb. 23-24 at UCCS.
