ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos promoted wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie to their active roster and signed quarterback Garrett Grayson to their practice squad, it was announced on Thursday.
McKenzie (5-8, 173 pounds) is a second-year wide receiver who appeared in 11 games with Denver as a rookie in 2017. Selected in the fifth round (172nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, McKenzie returned 21 punts for 183 yards (8.7 avg.) in addition to catching four passes for 29 yards (7.3 avg.) in his initial season.
A graduate of the University of Georgia (2014-16), McKenzie was on Denver’s active roster for the first week of the 2018 season before being placed on the team’s practice squad.
McKenzie will wear No. 16.
Grayson (6-2, 220 pounds) is a third-year quarterback from Colorado State University who spent two seasons on New Orleans’ active roster and practice squad (2015-16) in addition to competing on Atlanta’s practice squad (2017). Selected in the third round (75th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Grayson most recently spent training camp with Atlanta.
The 2014 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, Grayson completed 688-of-1,113 passes (61.8%) for 9,190 yards with 64 touchdowns and 27 interceptions during his collegiate career with the Rams. He was born on May 29, 1991, in Vancouver, Wash.
Grayson will wear No. 5.
