Briekse’s stellar start yields RMAC Pitcher of the Week Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 12, 2019) -Beau Brieske of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Baseball team earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors Tuesday.

Brieske (Jr., Chandler, Ariz.) collected his second win of the season and led the Pack to a 3-2 victory over Metro State University Denver Friday. He did not allow an earned run in eight innings to improve to 2-2.

The righty struck out 10 batters in his longest start of the season. Brieske surrendered just three hits and four walks. The Pack's Friday starter allowed just one unearned run in the first inning. He shutout the Roadrunners for the final seven innings of his outing.

Brieske stranded seven Roadrunners in scoring position. He left four Roadrunners in scoring position.

Currently, Brieske ranks seventh in D-II with 16.01 K/9 innings. He stands second among starters with more than three appearances in k/9 innings.

Briekse leads the RMAC with 51 strikeouts. The righty has struckout eight more batters than anyone else in the conference. His 51 punchouts are 18 more than anyone in the RMAC that is not on his own team.

After five starts, Brieske has a 3.77 ERA, ninth-best in the RMAC. He has a 1.35 WHIP. Brieske has struckout 10 or more batters in four of his five starts.

For Brieske, this is his first RMAC Pitcher of the Week Award and the Pack's first Pitcher of the Week Award this season. Brieske is the second Pack student-athlete to earn a RMAC weekly award this season. JP Hopkins (R-Jr., Chino Hills, Calif.) earned RMAC Hitter of the Week honors Feb. 26.

Brieske and the Pack will return home Friday to host Regis University. First Pitch between the Pack and Rangers is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.
