COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- After allowing just one goal in a weekend sweep of sixth-ranked Denver, Colorado College junior Alex Leclerc was named the Bauer Goaltender of the Week by the NCHC for the second consecutive week and the third time this season.
Leclerc was instrumental in helping CC capture the Gold Pan trophy for the first time since 2013-14. He saved 56 of the 57 shots he faced and was the game’s First Star both nights.
On Friday, he turned aside 26 shots in a 2-1 victory in Denver, including helping kill all three DU power plays. The next night, Leclerc stopped all 30 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season and eighth of his career. He made six saves short-handed to kill both DU power plays in the 1-0 win at the Broadmoor World Arena.
Leclerc finished the series with a .982 save percentage and a stellar 0.50 goals-against average. He is tied for second in the NCH with a 9.19 GAA and is third in the country with 999 saves this season.
The Tigers travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., this weekend for the first round of the NCHC playoffs against Western Michigan. The first game of the best-of-three series is Friday, March 15, beginning at 7:05 p.m. (ET).
