Air Force Women’s Hoops Gets Tripped up at SDSU, 70-61

SAN DIEGO, Calif. Air Force was unable to fend off a fourth-quarter rally by San Diego State (6-8, 1-2 MWC), falling to the Aztecs, 70-61, Saturday afternoon in Viejas Arena. The Falcons drop to 5-10 overall with a 1-3 mark in MWC action.

Sophomore co-captain Kaelin Immel led the Falcons with 15 points and six rebounds. Emily Conroe and Riley Snyder dropped 12 points apiece and combined for seven rebounds. Snyder has had double-figure scoring marks for three games straight. The Falcons, who shot over 40 percent for three quarters, held the advantage in points for over 20 minutes. A sluggish fourth quarter proved to be the difference.

Fouls were also a prevalent factor in the game as Air Force was called for 28 fouls which the Aztecs converted into 26 points at the free throw line. Two Falcons fouled out and three others were in foul trouble at the conclusion of the game.

San Diego State out-rebounded the Falcons, 40-30, and shot 40.4 percent on the game. The Aztecs were led by Mallory Adams who hit critical three-pointers on three occasions.

The Falcons travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV in the in the fifth MWC contest of the season. The Falcons and Rebels will be tipping off at high noon (PT), Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Cox Pavilion (2,500). UNLV will be riding high as they just ended the MWC front-running New Mexico Lobos win-streak with a 66-57 win in Las Vegas.
