A woman made a narrow escape after overhearing two people plotting to kill her.

The victim locked herself in a bedroom after hearing the men talking and called 911. As she spoke to the dispatcher, they heard the suspects discussing how to get into the room.

Police say the men were still at the home on Potter Drive when officers arrived on scene, though one tried to escape through a window. Officers took both into custody.

Investigators reported finding evidence that corroborated the victim's report, including two weapons. According to the victim, the plan was to sexually assault her first, then kill her.

Hugo Mendoza Hernandez, 31, and Easebio Melandres Agustin, 32, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit sexual assault and conspiracy to commit murder.

Editor's note: An earlier version of the story had the second suspect's name written as "Agustin Melandres Easebio." The name has been corrected.
