PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV)- A Pueblo West woman has been arrested for child abuse after the death of her young son.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says 24-year old Jannie Gatlin was taken into custody after detectives obtained a warrant.

The warrant follows an autopsy report that revealed her infant son died on December 29 from extreme malnourishment.

Deputies say they responded to the Parkview West Emergency Room on December 29, on a suspicious death of an infant boy.

Emergency room doctors told detectives the boy was not responsive, and appeared to be severely dehydrated and emaciated.

Gatlin is being held in the Pueblo County Jail.
