COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing the identity of a child who died in a tragic accident.

Colorado Springs police say an initial investigation showed that 67-year-old Deborah Lester obtained fraudulent documents of the deceased child. For about 28 years she allegedly assumed the identity of that child in at least two states. The child died in a "tragic" accident in the 1960s according to Colorado Springs police. They did not elaborate on the identity of the child or how the child passed away.

Lester has had at least two marriages, possibly more, across multiple states under different names. Lester was taken into custody on Oct. 31 and charged with identity theft.
