A woman was arrested after taking off in a local deputy's SUV Friday evening. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as Megan Dees, 32.
Dees was originally taken into custody for drug charges. Deputies say they had just put Dees in the back of a deputy's Chevy Tahoe when she managed to slip out of her handcuffs, bash through the barrier and jump into the driver's seat.
Investigators say Dees led deputies on a short chase down Austin Bluffs Parkway, ending in front of UCCS, where she was again taken into custody.
Dees faces a long list charges, including parole violation, attempt to escape, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
She is now being held at the Criminal Justice Center without bond.
